Because of the stone retaining wall, it is proposed that Davids Palace was above this point.

Unfortunately, no one has found any palace remains yet.

Descending into Hexekiah's tunnel entrance

Here Carl J. and J. Carl are preparing to enter Hezekia's tunnel. This is a tunnel dug through bed-rock to bring the waters of the Gihon spring toother parts of the city. It exits at the Pool of Shalon.

The way doesn't look to bad . . .

But as we went, the darkness was complete except for our little flashlights. When we turned them off, standing in the dark, with the water running over our feet it was interesting to ponder what the laborers who dug the tunnel felt like and how they saw in the deepest parts of the tunnel.

Finally, we go to the Pool of Shalon and emerged into the bright (harsh) sunlight.

John 9:5-7 �While I am in the world, I am the Light of the world.� When He had said this, He spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and applied the clay to his eyes, and said to him, �Go, wash in the pool of Siloam�. So he went away and washed, and came back seeing.

From this lower part of the city, it was interesting to lookout and ponder David, standing on the roof of his house and seeing the people in their daily lives below.

As we walked back up the hill, and to campus we passed by the "DUNG" gate. This gate located at the lowest point in the city was where all the rainwater and sewage naturally exited the city.
